Essay coaching that finds the voice.

Personal statement, Common App, and supplemental essay guidance. We coach and give feedback — the words stay the student's.

A student and coach working through college essay drafts together

Essay coaching is where ideas take shape. Together we dig into memories, values, and the half-formed thoughts worth following, then develop them into clear, compelling college essays through thoughtful questions, honest feedback, and pointed suggestions.

From the Common App personal statement to every last supplemental essay, the writing belongs to the student. My job is to ask the right questions, sharpen structure and voice, and help students say what only they can say.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between essay coaching and essay editing?

+

Essay coaching is a guided process. I ask thoughtful questions, help students brainstorm the ideas worth writing about, then give feedback on structure, voice, and detail so the final essay is truly theirs. I coach and edit rather than rewrite — the words belong to the student.

When should students begin the Common App essay?

+

Most students benefit from starting in late spring or early summer before senior year. That gives time to brainstorm, draft, revise, and still breathe. Students who start earlier feel calmer and write stronger essays.

How many essay revisions do students usually complete?

+

Most personal statements go through three to five focused rounds — brainstorm, draft, structural revision, line edits, and a final polish. Supplements often move faster once we've established a voice.
